Downtown Friday joins forces on Friday evening with the Indian River County Centennial celebration for what promises to be one of the summer’s most vibrant and spirited community events. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 27, the streets along 14th Avenue will transform into a festive corridor featuring food trucks, live music, vendors, children’s activities and a 7 p.m. Centennial Parade honoring 100 years of Indian River County’s heritage. Locals and visitors alike are invited to bring lawn chairs, settle in on the Heritage Center lawn, and enjoy live music amid the celebratory atmosphere. Inside the Heritage Center, the Craft Market will offer a carefully curated collection of handmade items, including Bourbon Bacon Brownies from M’s Sweets N’ Treats and coastal-themed creations from Salt Marsh Salvage by Leslie McKenzie, the granddaughter of Millie Binnell. This indoor market is a perfect complement to the outdoor festival and a chance to discover unique gifts while enjoying the cool indoors. Then, on Sunday, June 29, a Centennial History Fair runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Heritage Center. This free event will showcase local historical exhibits, rare photographs, and stories that illuminate the county’s development over the past century. Hosted by the IRC Centennial Committee, the fair offers a hands-on opportunity for residents to connect with their community’s roots and learn about the people and places that have shaped Indian River County. The Heritage Center is at 2140 14th Ave., Vero Beach. Call 772-770-2263 or visit IndianRiver.gov.
