Bonz has a jolly time with Jawz, the cutest of Corgis

Even tho he looks all grown up an he’s Totally Chill, Jawz Benn is only 10 months old. He’s a Corgi with a dash of BlueTick: long and low with a 3-color coat an pawsome peanut butter-colored Polka Dots on his snoot an paws. It’s called a Cowboy Corgi, he explained. Super Crispy Biscuits, right?

We did the innerview at his place of business, a Cool Kibbles liddle shop on Ocean Drive.

He’s the COO an greeter an his Mamma’s The Boss. He trotted up for the Wag-an-Sniff, lookin’ spiffy inna bright new orange harness.

“Hi, Mr. Bonzo! Lemme see, Momma says to say, ‘WELCOME TO OUR SHOP!’ an also to say, ‘Come IN!’ This is her, Dana. My Daddy Austin’s elsewhere. I’m Jawz Benn with a ‘Z’ an two ‘N’s, Momma says to mention!”

There were shelves all along the walls with tidy rows of boddles filled with different colored BEV-rudges. Jawz saw me lookin’ an explained, “We have WHINE. It’s a BEV-rudge lotsa humans really like. I dunno why. I accidently tried it once. When Mamma talks about whine, I don’t understand mosta the words. She usta achshully MAKE it in Calla-FORN-yuh. That’s a state like here but way far over on the left side! They have their very own ocean!” He pointed.

“Cool Kibbles! How’d you get all the way here?”

“Well, I was born way, WAY UP THAT WAY inna place called uh-LASK-uh! (He pointed again.) Momma’s BFF Coreen adopted my Super Adorable step-sister Fern. When Momma saw Fern’s pickshur, she hadda have a pupper like that so, when our pooch Momma had her next litter (mine), Momma adopted ME. I was the runt! My ears were the last to pop up in my litter. (Corgis’ ears are flat for the first few weeks, then they’re spose to pop up. Both at the same time. When mine finally popped up, it was only one, for Lassie’s Sake.) Woof, did I look like a Doof! One up, one down.

“Anyway, when I was 3 months old, I got to fly inna PLANE to a place called SEA-addle to meet Momma, who had driven from here, all across the whole country to get me. Soon as we saw each other, we KNEW we were MFEO! Then we drove all the way back to my Furever Home, which is WAY different from uh-LASK-uh. I’m still gettin’ use to it. I really like it.”

“Woof, Jawz, that’s a wonderful tail!” Then I hadda ask, “Did you already have that Cool Kibbles name?”

“Nope. Daddy named me. He’s an AR-dist! An he loves surfin’! AN he Totally Loves this moo-vie lotsa humans really really like, even though it scares the kibbles outta them. It’s called ‘JAWS’, an it’s about this gi-NOR-mous shark who eats a whole buncha humans an, worse, even a POOCH! SO Soggy Dog Biscuits. But it’s Daddy’s FAVE! So …”

“So you’re named after that shark movie? Ackshully, I think that’s Seriously Cool Kibbles!

Tray Unusual!”

“I know, right? An I spell it with a ‘Z.’ I totally like it!”

I was takin’ notes As fast as I could. “So what’s your day-to-day like? Any pooch or human pals?”

“I work here with Momma every day. We have playtime every morning before comin’ to work, so I get my exercise an use my extra energy buh-FORE work. I should probly mention I have this cun-DISH-un called Addison’s Duh-zeeze, which can make me all pooped an flopsy so I hafta have a pill anna shot every day, which is Soggy Biscuits. This one time, Mamma says, they almost LOST me, but my dockter, Miss Verena, SAVED me. My mem-rees are pretty fuzzy about all that. Anyway, Momma an Daddy tale good care of me, so it’s not so bad.

“PLUS, I like workin’ here cuz I get to meet lots of nice humans an pooches. I have a buncha Pooch an Human frens all along the street. The shop ladies all love me. I love my human grammas and grampas: Gramma Cathy an Grampa Warren out in Colorado an my other gramma and grampa, Bob an Lesa, up in Sebastian. I love walkin’ out on their dock. One time, when I was way liddler, I jumped off the dock an Momma jumped in to save me. I was already paddlin’ like crazy to shore. It was an IN-stink, I guess.

“My pooch BFFs, lemme see, Bruce a French Bulldog, up in Palm Bay, an here, on the beach, I play with Lulu, a Golden Doodle, an Tucker, who I’m just getting’ to know.”

“What about cats?” I ventured.

“Well, I don’t have anything against cats, but there’s this cat, his name’s Jack, an let’s just say we don’t get along. I mean, I’D be willing but … Then there’s Tux, a neighbor cat I’d like to get to know, but he has been a liddle uh-LOOF till yesterday, when he came over an we sorta had a MOMENT. So maybe he’ll be my first cat fren! Ackshully, I guess I’m mostly all about humans.

“When I’m not greetin’ an makin’ sure things are runnin’ smoothly here, I just chill, maybe nap. I’m a laid-back kinda pupper.

“Also, I am GRRREAT at the famous Corgi Sploot which, for some reason, humans get a kick out of. I also do a few tricks: my best are Circle! Lay Down! Shake! an Paw!”

“What’s your favrite foodstuff?”

“I love, love, love peanut budder! Also carrots! An chiggen breast!”

Just then a coupla ladies came into the shop an Jawz trotted off to greet them.

Headin’ home, I was thinkin’ about Jawz, the charmin’ pupper with “peanut budder paws,” an the cool, unusual name, dealing with his duh-zeese an still keepin’ a happy attitude an bringin’ smiles to lotsa humans every day. I also thought I’d check out the kitchen when I got home. I’m preddy sure I saw a jar of peanut butter in the cabinet.
