Coming Up! Edwards Twins’ high-energy holiday revue at Emerson

Get in the mood for the holidays with the dazzling Las Vegas-styled revue, “The Edwards Twins Ultimate Christmas Show.” This duo takes audiences through lively impersonations of scores of big-name celebrities and superstars, including: Sonny & Cher, Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Bette Midler and tons more. “The Edwards Twins Ultimate Christmas Show” begins 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Ave., Vero Beach. A Musical Evening of Escher and musicians from the Atlantic Classical Orchestra is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. The event allows patrons to visit the exhibition “M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations” and also to enjoy Bach’s “The Musical Offering.” Organizers planned the Bach work because the artist was “deeply inspired and moved by Bach’s compositions, saying to friends, ‘Many a print was conceived in my mind whilst listening to the lucid, logical language he speaks.’” The cost is $30 per person for museum members and ACO subscribers. “Dancing with Vero’s Stars” will be held Friday on the Stark Stage at Riverside Theatre. The event pairs 10 local celebrities with dance instructors ready to entertain and help raise funds for the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition. There will be tangos, salsas, jitterbugs and more on Riverside’s stage. The event starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, with red carpet arrivals. The Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra presents “Great Gatsby Party: The Roaring Twenties.” It begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Ave., Vero Beach. The concert celebrates the 1920s Jazz Age with music by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Jelly Roll Morton and Bix Beiderbecke. The concert also takes audiences into the 1940s Big Band era and features guest vocalist Hannah Stokes. Choreographer Joanne Collins will perform iconic ’20s Lindy Hop and swing dances. Along with orchestra conductor Frank Wosar, the orchestra brings together many musicians who toured with the modern Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Wosar, who is also director of jazz bands at Valencia College, plays lead trombone for the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and is a four-time Down Beat Award winner for outstanding jazz solo. “This is a lighthearted and energetic concert, filled with the best of the Jazz Age,” he says.
