Coronavirus in IRC, Feb. 18 update

Afternoon update, Feb. 18, 2021

Indian River County verified 38 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, along with one new death, according to the Florida Department of Health county report. This raises the total amount of county cases to 10,656, while the death toll increased to 253.

The numbers in the reports are provisional and subject to change. Health officials said 112 out of the 253 Indian River County deaths were at long-term care facilities.

There have been 635 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Indian River County, heath officials said. The number of hospitalizations and county cases are both cumulative.

There were 22 people still hospitalized as of Thursday, according to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.

For the Indian River County cases among residents, 7,138 were white, 1,042 were black, 956 were listed as “other” and 1,430 were listed as “unknown.”

Statewide, the number of COVID-19 cases increased to 1,849,744, health officials said. The number of virus-related deaths increased to 29,990.

Indian River County verified 49 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, according to the Florida Department of Health county report. This raises the total amount of county cases to 10,618, while the death toll remained at 252.

The numbers in the reports are provisional and subject to change. Health officials said 112 out of the 252 Indian River County deaths were at long-term care facilities.

For the Indian River County cases among residents, 7,112 were white, 1,039 were black, 957 were listed as “other” and 1,420 were listed as “unknown.”

Statewide, the number of COVID-19 cases increased to 1,844,627, health officials said. The number of virus-related deaths increased to 29,824.
