A burglar helped himself to the cash register and fridge at the Popeye’s Chicken on SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard on Labor Day, police said.
The burglary happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, and the Port St. Lucie Police Department is searching for the suspect.
According to police, he placed a chair under the surveillance camera and spray painted the lens. He then stole cash from the register, multiple cases of chicken, bags of chicken batter, and a tray of chicken.
Footage from the camera shows the suspect to be a black male of medium build who was wearing jeans, a long-sleeve black hooded shirt, dark-colored socks and slide-style shoes.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry into the eatery.
