Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce police were busy last weekend tracking down a bank robber who made off with cash at one and left empty-handed from the other.
Ultimately, Fort Pierce police arrested a suspect in the Seacoast Bank robbery and Port St. Lucie police identified the suspect as the one who tried but failed to rob the SunTrust. Roger Alan Moore, 35, of Fort Pierce faces a charge of robbery without a firearm or weapon and is in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
According to police, Moore entered the Seacoast Bank, located at 1901 S. U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce, around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. There, Moore demanded money from a teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured. The day prior, shortly before 3 p.m., a man fitting Moore’s description attempted to rob a Port St. Lucie SunTrust located in the 10500 block of S. U.S. 1.
According to Port St. Lucie police, the man – later identified as Moore – passed a note to the teller that read in part “no dye packs.” The teller turned away from the man and the man left the bank without the cash. No weapons were displayed nor implied, and no one was injured.
