INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two top leaders within the School District have tendered their resignations effective later this month.
Indian River County School District Assistant Superintendent Bruce Green, who oversees technology, assessment and human resources, turned in his resignation recently, which will take effect at the end of June.
“Please know that this has not been an easy decision,” Green’s resignation letter states, “and that I will work diligently to help make this transition as smooth as possible. However, after considering many factors, I believe this decision is in the best interest for me and my family as I move forward to broaden my experiences and pursue other opportunities.”
Green worked for the district for 21 years, the last five years as assistant superintendent. His duties were expanded last year to include overseeing the human resources department.
Executive Director for Secondary Schools Dr. Peggy Jones has also resigned, effective June 29.
Superintendent Mark Rendell asked her to come out of retirement last year to take the position as head of middle and high schools. Jones was principal of Sebastian River High School when she retired in 2009 after working for the district 29 years.
“This has been an exciting year and I am thankful for the time I have had again with students, principals, and district office personnel,” she said in her resignation letter.
