Food Service Industry Job Fair to be held next week

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Residents with a passion to work in the food industry should polish their résumés and dress for success.

The CareerSource Research Coast center will hold a Food Service Industry job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at its building, 1880 82nd Avenue, in Suite 103. A list of employers offer about 30 open and available local positions; they will be interviewing candidates during the event, with some making provisional offers of employment.

Employers will be interviewing candidates for positions in management, supervisors or shift leaders, cooks and food preparation, servers, hostesses, dishwashers and more.

Some employers who will be at the event include Marsh Landing Restaurant, Outback Restaurant, Capt. Hiram’s and Grand Harbor County Club. Job seekers must pre-register by visiting the CareerSource website.

Job seekers can also pre-register by visiting the following locations on these dates and times:

  • CareerSource Research Coast, 1880 82nd Avenue, Suite 103, Vero Beach, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Riverview Park, 650 Indian River Drive, Sebastian, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays.

Two crashes involving semi-trailers, dump truck reported on I-95

Three people were hurt after two crashes involving semi-tractor trailers and a dump truck that occurred Wednesday along Interstate 95, officials said. The conditions of those injured were not immediately available. The first wreck - involving one semi-tractor trailer and a dump truck - happened about 7:30 a.m. on northbound I-95 near the 145-mile marker, Indian River County Sheriff's officials said. Two people were taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, Indian River County Fire Rescue Bureau Chief Bill Herrington said. The collision briefly blocked all northbound lanes. Humane Society takes in nearly 50 dogs from west coast following Ian aftermath

Nearly 50 dogs in Lee County - one of the many areas on Florida's west coast pummeled by Hurricane Ian - were recently relocated to their new home at the local Vero Beach humane society. The Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County took in the canines Sunday, according to agency officials. The dogs are from Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
