GIFFORD — A 46-year-old woman is accused of flashing a BB gun at her neighbor’s kids to scare them after the kids reportedly “threw rocks at pastor,” deputies said.
Saundra Inez Gracou, of the 2800 block of 44th Place, Gifford, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. She was released Friday from the Indian River County Jail on $1,000 bail.
Deputies at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday went to a home in the 2800 block of 44th Place in response to an exhibition of a weapon. Deputies spoke to a mother, who said Gracou flashed a gun at both of her boys, ages 12 and 13.
Deputies spoke with Gracou, who lives one unit to the east. She told deputies the kids “were throwing rocks at the pastor and ran when y’all came.”
“I was just trying to scare them when I showed them the BB gun,” Gracou said. Gracou took the deputy inside her home, showed him the BB gun and told the deputy it wasn’t real.
Gracou told the deputy that she has known the kids since they were little and that she would never hurt them. After she saw the boys throw the rocks, she told them, “hold on, I want to show y’all something,” according to an arrest report.
Gracou then got then BB gun and told the boys, “Someone out here is gonna kill y’all….Y’all need to stop this.” She said she never pointed the gun at the boys.
Deputies spoke with the boys, who both said they were afraid when Gracou showed them the gun. Gracou was arrested and taken to the county jail for booking.
