2 teens charged as adults in Gifford slay

GIFFORD — Two teenagers have been indicted by a grand jury in the 2015 murder of a Gifford man.

“We are proud to say that these two killers are behind bars today because witnesses were willing to come forward and provide the testimony we needed to bring justice for Reginald Davis Jr. and his family,” Sheriff Deryl Loar said in a prepared statement.

A little over a year ago, Cazory Henry, 17, and Deshaun Marshall, 16, both of Gifford, allegedly shot Davis, according to the indictment. Davis died three days later due to his wound.

“Our detectives have interviewed a number of witnesses over the past year, knowing that someone out there could help make this case,” Sheriff Loar said. “Cooperation from the community, forensic evidence, and witness cooperation were all key to today’s arrests.”

On May 17, 2015, at 6:38 p.m., Indian River County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4600 block of 39th Avenue in Gifford, where they located a white Ford Crown Victoria with the front doors open and Davis inside with a gunshot wound.

Henry was arrested Thursday following the grand jury’s indictment. He was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, and robbery with a deadly weapon where a firearm was discharged.

Marshall is already serving time at the Okeechobee Youth Development Center for an unrelated case. On Thursday, he, too, was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, and robbery with a deadly weapon where a firearm was discharged.

Both teens are being charged as adults and held without bond.
