Gino DeGrandis, 76, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 26, 2016, at his home and surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his partner and friend, Susan Gross; his four children, Rita Keim Wynegar (Michael), Gina Lynn, Gino DeGrandis (Jacqueline), Lisa DeGrandis; sister Rita Chieffo; brother Anthony Rossi; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita (Manns) DeGrandis, and his son Jonathan Paul DeGrandis.
Born May 25, 1939, to Gene and Raffaella DeGrandis, and raised in Philadelphia, DeGrandis left home to proudly serve in the US Marine Corp. After his service he married the love of his life, Rita Manns, and together they had five children. In the early 1980’s they settled in York, Pa., and it was here where his love of family and hot rods came together, building and racing cars with his sons.
DeGrandis settled in Vero Beach after retiring from his life long career as a successful turnaround manager in the turbine motor industry. In retirement, he continued to offer his strong leadership skills and worked as a security team captain for an exclusive gated community.
He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a son, a brother, a friend, and a mentor, possessing the highest level of integrity.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, May 3, from 8 to 9:15 a.m. at John F Fluehr & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 3301 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, 19149, followed by 10 a.m. Mass at Church of the Resurrection of our Lord, 2000 Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, at 9 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and Garden Mausoleum, Cheltenham Avenue and Easton Road, Philadelphia, PA, 19150.
