Benny Bruce Blanton, 65, of Vero Beach, passed away of natural causes, at his home on Jan. 19, 2016.
He is survived by his spouse of 45 years, Glinda Blanton; daughters Sonia (Michael) Dobish of Orlando, Julia (John) Driggers of Vero Beach, Lena (Steve) Frank of Vero Beach; grandchildren Courtney Frank, Alexander Frank, Brandon Driggers, Jordan Dobish, Brooke Dobish; sisters Shirley (John) Dingus of North Carolina, Allene (John) Marshall of Vero Beach; sister-in-law Alice Blanton Williford; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by father, Halton Leon Blanton; mother Mildred Knowles Blanton; and brothers Timmy Blanton and James Blanton.
Blanton was a lifelong resident of Vero Beach and of Primitive Baptist faith.
With his quick wit, he often said he was “tired” and “re-tired” from his shoe shop and the citrus industry. His love of nature was shared with all of his family. He enjoyed gardening, wildlife, fishing, hunting, and watching sports and current events. His greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Lighthouse Church of God, 1190 27th Avenue in Vero Beach.
