William Stephen “Bill” Kopacka, 73, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 3, 2016, at the VNA Hospice House.
He is survived by his wife Fae Kopacka of Vero Beach.
Kopacka earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Duquesne University 1963. During the summer, starting in 1959, he began his career in broadcasting at WNEW Channel 5 in New York City where he remained until 1967 when he became the Director of Future Planning for ABC Television where he remained until 1974.
From 1974 to 1982, Kopacka moved over to RCA Americom as director of sales and in 1982 serving as Vice President of sales and marketing, he was instrumental in forming Satellite Gateway Communications, a provider of teleport TV satellite facilities used by major broadcasters.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Miami, FL in memory of Mr. William Stephen Kopacka.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 2015 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
