Radiothon yields 110,000 meals for Harvest Food and Outreach Center

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The 7th Annual Harvest Food and Outreach Center Radiothon was held on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

It was broadcast live on Treasure and Space Coast Radio stations 93.7 WGYL and 97.1 Ocean FM and thanks to numerous generous contributions from residents on the Treasure Coast they were able to raise enough funds to provide 119,200 meals for needy area families.

The total almost doubled last year’s total of 66,000 meals.

Harvest Food and Outreach Center was founded in 2003 by Austin Hunt and his wife Ginny Hunt to serve those in poverty by providing crisis care, case management, transformative education, food and household subsidy, employment training and placement, personal empowerment training and active referrals to other collaborative social service providers.

Treasure and Space Coast Radio is the largest broadcasting group on the Treasure Coast and consists of 97.1 Ocean FM, 93.7 WGYL, 94.7 Hot Country, 99.7 – Jack FM and Newsradio 1490 WTTB. The stations are owned by Mitchell Rubenstein and Laurie Silvers who also own Home Town Cable Plus in Port St. Lucie as well as other media interests.
