Education Foundation to participate in National Day of Giving

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Education Foundation of Indian River County (EF-IRC) has so much to be thankful for. They are especially thankful to donors who believe in what they do.

For the second year in a row, the Foundation has decided to join the nationwide #GivingTuesday Movement, an effort to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

Taking place on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is a way for people to come together to celebrate the great American tradition of giving. #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays, dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with holiday shopping.

Because of the generosity of the community, Pre-K students are ready for kindergarten, all students are enriched through classroom and technology grants, graduation rates are increased through the Algebra 2 Counts Program and college becomes a reality with science fair scholarships. Additionally, students are prepared for learning with supplies, sneakers and eyeglasses.

The Education Foundation hopes the community will join the organization as it participates in this effort to inspire friends and donors for the second year in a row. Please visit the website and click on the #GivingTuesday logo to make a donation. Follow the Education Foundation on Twitter and Facebook to read what the board members and volunteers are thankful for.

The EF-IRC exists to fulfill unmet funding gaps. For more than 24 years, the program services have been focused on enriching and enhancing educational opportunities for all students and teachers, both public and private, through effective fundraising and efficient allocation of resources.

The EF-IRC is one of only 10 education foundations in the State of Florida to serve both public and private school students. This unique structure, as an independent 501c3, allows the organization to direct funding where it is needed most to build a better community. This ensures educational opportunities for every Pre-K through 12th grade student in Indian River County.
