INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Authorities nabbed a Gifford man early Wednesday morning accused of selling cocaine out of his home located approximately 309-feet from a school.
A confidential informant led detectives to Johnny Johnson, 53, of 2864 45th Street, Vero Beach in September, the report shows.
Authorities listened in as the confidential informant purchased 2.5 grams of cocaine from Johnson who also goes by the name “Greece.”
The drugs were field tested and came back positive for cocaine.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. along with detectives went to serve the search warrant for Johnson’s residence around 6:15 a.m. Oct. 28. At approximately 6 a.m., detectives observed Johnson leaving his home.
Police stopped Johnson near the intersection of Old Dixie and 45th St. A detective on the case identified Johnson as the man who sold cocaine to the confidential informant. He was arrested on the spot.
Johnson’s residence is located approximately 309 feet away from Gifford Middle School.
Johnson now faces charges including possession cocaine and sale of cocaine within 1000-feet of a school. He was released Thursday morning on $15,000 bond.
