Pairing tasty cocktails with beauty treatments can be the ultimate in luxury, a self-indulgent treat that satisfies the thirst of dehydrated, dried skin, as well as delights the taste buds.
Cocktails can in fact contain some nutrient-rich ingredients useful in spa treatments which can enhance, smooth and soften skin, rejuvenating a spa-goer on the heels of a hot, blistery summer.
So says Megan De Souza, spa director at the Gloria and Emilio Estefan-owned Costa d’Este Beach Resort & Spa on Ocean Drive. And what better to do at the end of summer than restore yourself from head to toe with a body exfoliation, facial and pedicure, chased by a refreshing cocktail – Gloria’s Glorious Cosmo or the resort’s signature Mojito – containing some of the same ingredients used in the treatment.
“With today’s hectic, busy lifestyle, it’s important for everyone to spend the time to pamper themselves” she said. “People are looking at ingredients, what’s going in their bodies and on top of their bodies. We are thinking of that as well, incorporating and using organic products in our treatments.
“A lot of people do damage to the skin during summer months,” De Souza added. “This is a way to repair and guide them back into healthy glowing skin.”
The spa’s cocktail-and-treatment menu offered through September highlights the resort’s signature Botran Rum Mojito and Gloria’s Glorious Cosmopolitan – the celebrity’s refreshing mixture of orange-flavored vodka, orange liqueur, cranberry juice, orange juice, Sprite, 7-Up or other lemon-lime soda, juicy limes, grenadine and ice.
Mojito treatments feature lime soaks, organic ginger lime exfoliation and organic body butter. Cosmopolitan services offer a taste of cranberry orange, organic vodka sugar exfoliation, organic ginger body butter and clementine body oil.
After spa-goers luxuriate in select foot, body and facial treatments infused with cocktail-style ingredients, a drinkable version of the blend is presented to them and can be enjoyed at The Wave Kitchen & Bar, the Cabana Pool Bar & Grill or in the spa’s tranquility room.
Guests are invited to first choose their cocktail and then pair it with one of the following 50-minute treatments which range in price depending on the day of the week in which the appointment is scheduled.
• Mojito/Gloria’s Glorious Body Glow – a full-body organic vodka sugar scrub followed by a shot of hydration. The treatment costs between $99 and $125.
• Mojito/Gloria’s Glorious Facial – features the Mojito- or Cosmopolitan-inspired ingredients and paired with a complementary hand treatment. It costs from $89 to $115.
• Mojito/Gloria’s Glorious Pedicure – The spa’s signature pedicure featuring Mojito- or Cosmopolitan-inspired ingredients costing $49 to $60.
“We are really big on provoking the senses,” said De Souza. “We want people to smell, taste, feel and touch. It’s important to us to make it a whole experience during the treatment.”
The Spa at Costa D’Este is a very intimate spa based on high-quality customer service. Clients are greeted by the spa coordinator, the smell of nag champa incense pleasing the senses. The spa features steam rooms, locker rooms and citrus fusion amenities. There is a retail space with two pedicure chairs and manicure table and on another level there is a beautiful tranquility room to relax and four addiitional treatment rooms.
“It’s a safe, beautiful and calming environment,” De Souza said. “Whether you are a local or a guest, you will be treated like a celebrity.”
