Church sponsors gas discounts and free block party BBQ

SEBASTIAN — Every fall for the last 10 years, Coastal Community Church has invited the community to enjoy the church’s two most popular events: The Gas Buydown and The Block Party Barbecue.

The gas buydown will take place on Sept. 12, at the Shark Mart Mobil gas station located at the corner of County Road 512 and County Road 510 (9490 90th Ave) in Sebastian.

Beginning at 10 a.m. the price at the pump will be reduced by $0.50 per gallon until more than 2,000 gallons of fuel are sold. The discount will be limited to 20 gallons per customer in order to provide the discount to as many people as possible. With the exception of the first few vehicles in line before the event, most will be directed to drive behind Publix to meet the back of the line. Once the event begins, the line will move very quickly as experienced full service volunteers fuel vehicles and wash windshields.

The Block Party Barbecue will take place on the following Saturday, Sept. 19, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Riverview Park located on U.S. 1 and C.R.512 in Sebastian. Inflatable bounce houses, a bungee run and carnival games will be on site for families to enjoy. A live D.J. will keep the fun alive with music favorites and giveaways from local businesses.

This 10th annual event will have a few special features including face painting by members of the Sebastian Art Club, additional bounce houses and slides and the Coastal Community Church band will also be performing some familiar cover songs during a mini concert. The community will be treated to slow roasted BBQ pork, hotdogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes and snow cones. The entire event is provided at no cost to the public.

The church welcomes additional businesses to donate prizes, or food for the event. Event sponsorship is also available. In order to preserve the generous spirit of this event, no goods or services will be sold at the event. Businesses may provide items for free that will enhance the event for families in the community. Please contact the church now to

see how businesses can participate.

“Giving has always been a part of our church’s DNA. When we started in my home almost 10 years ago, we decided that we wanted to revolutionize the community’s perception of the church, by giving-not taking. We absolutely love to be generous and it has helped us to become the growing church that we are today. God’s love is recklessly generous and completely unconditional. That is the point,” said Seth Goldsmith, Pastor of Coastal Community Church.

Coastal Community Church worships at 10 a.m. on Sundays in the auditorium of

Sebastian River Middle School. Nursery, children and youth programs are available. For
