INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Follow the adventures of the mythological Greek hero Hercules in the night sky constellations at the Indian River State College (IRSC) Hallstrom Planetarium on the Main Campus in Fort Pierce during the “Hercules Connection.” Then learn about the latest on the upcoming July 2015 space probe fly-by to the distant world of Pluto.
See constellation outlines on the planetarium dome from 17th century Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius’ star catalogue that show Hercules defeating the dragon Draco and taking three of the golden apples of the Hesperides – the three stars in the handle of the Big Dipper.
Shows are May 15, 16, 29 and 30 with show times Friday evenings at 6 and 7:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoons at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Tickets to shows are $3. These are the last shows of the 2014-15 season at the Hailstorm Planetarium.
