Dyer Auto presents Harvest Food and Outreach with $3,000 check

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Dyer Auto Group is pleased to announce Harvest Food and Outreach is the recipient of this month’s Dyer Difference Award along with a $3,000 check.

Harvest Food and Outreach was founded in 2003 to provide a hand up to people in Indian River County living at poverty level. Harvest’s multi-component model is designed to inspire and empower people to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency. This is done through transformational education including life skills workshops, employment education and on-the-job training, food assistance through Harvest’s pantry and Cost Share Grocery Program and crisis counseling and case management.

The Dyer award is helping to sponsor The Ride to Beat Hunger and Splash Party Celebration. Team Harvest is a team of cyclists who will begin by dipping the rear wheel of their bikes into the Pacific Ocean in Costa Mesa, Calif., beginning with Rev. Cliff Melvin riding 841 miles to Albuquerque, N.M. and continuing the remaining 3,457 mile journey where Rev. Scott Alexander of Vero Beach will dip the front wheel of his bike into the Atlantic Ocean in Amesbury, Mass. Following the trek, the community is invited to join Team Harvest at a “Splash Party” hosted at Waldo’s on the beach on May 26th at 5 p.m.
