Indian River State College hosts Spring teacher conference May 16

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River State College (IRSC) School of Education is hosting their annual Spring Conference to help teachers put the spark back into teaching. The conference highlight will be hearing from keynote speaker Victoria DiNatale, a dynamic, nationally recognized speaker on the topic of bullying.

This annual conference will provide teachers and students with education majors the opportunity to earn in-service points, learn new teaching strategies, network with other teachers and see what is new in the vendor marketplace. Lunch will also be provided as part of conference registration.

Keynote speaker Victoria DiNatale is a 23-year-old alumna of Armstrong Atlantic State University with a bachelor’s degree in English. As a former victim of severe middle and high school bullying, she now shares her anti-bullying message “Standing Victorious” with thousands of students and adults in universities, schools and civic events. Through her advocacy, she has also reached thousands via television, radio, magazine and online blogs.

DiNatale is the founder of Standing Victorious, and has traveled the southeastern United States sharing her eye-opening story and addressing both victims and bullies alike. She is also the former “Bullying Breakdown” columnist for the Savannah Morning News.

The Spring Conference will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 16, at the IRSC Main Campus in Fort Pierce in the Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Y-102, just off the 35th Street side of the campus. Registration for the conference is $59 and includes lunch.
