LETTER: Officer sued by islander deserves fair treatment

Mr. Ray McNulty,

In regard to your article, Woman sues Vero over battery by a police officer. Well maybe you should have used the title, Woman who plead guilty to Driving While Intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident sues arresting Police Officer. Page one story, continued to page 3, then continued to page 8, which you finally reported that Allison Landsman plead guilty to the charges.

So, Mr. McNulty, you are an award winning columnist. I have no doubt that you a professional and you deserve recognition. But, this article looks like you will be awarded for a reporting how to support frivolous law suits. My suggestion, you need to report on victims of drunk drivers. I suggest you look into a local Mother’s Against Drunk Driving organization.

As for Officer Fletcher McClellan, I do not personally know him nor any law enforcement officials in Indian River County, but he has my support and certainly deserve to be treated fairly by a local news reporter.

I look forward to your column on the dangers of Driving While Intoxicated.
