Partnership forms to support community poolside pavilion at Leisure Square

VERO BEACH — Thanks to the guidance and support from Kerry Bartlett of the Indian River County Community Foundation, the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association, headed by Erik Toomsoo and the volunteer group behind the Community Poolside Pavilion at Leisure Square, have become partners.

“This partnership will help facilitate the financial transactions necessary to move forward on this community benefit project,” said Beverly Paris, chairman of the volunteer group. “Partnering with the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association, who are a highly recognized 501(c)3 organization in this community, is a positive move for both organizations. We are very appreciative that they have partnered with our volunteer group and we are already talking about possible endeavors we can do together in the future.”

What began as a way to treat Leisure Square members, summer campers and visitors to a place of solace and shade, has now blossomed into a community project fueled by a hard-working and philanthropic volunteer group in Vero Beach.

The new Community Poolside Pavilion will soon offer additional reasons for city residents to visit Leisure Square for exercise and fitness, and that will be to enjoy the new poolside amenity; a covered Pavilion, complete with seating and beautiful landscaping.

Although fundraising to reach the project goal continues, thanks go to a large number of community residents who have already made donations to the project, and special thanks go to one large donation from Tim Girard of Girard Equipment who has underwritten the structure itself, to be named for his father, John C. Girard.

The volunteer group behind this project, consists of Beverly Paris of Paris Productions, Anthony Donadio of Donadio & Associates, Robert Paugh of Bill Bryant & Associates, Tony Della Porta of Della Porta Construction, Sam Jelmby of Helmet House Construction, Brad Schuh of Summit Construction, Robin Pelensky of Surlaterre Landscape Architecture, Martin Paris of Paris Productions, Martina Tannery of Martina’s Photography, and Marsha Damerow of Fat Cat Graphics.
