Crash in south Indian River County kills 1, injures 2 Thursday

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 77-year-old woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in south Indian River County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Roberta Lee Wilson, 77, of Ft. Pierce, was driving south on 43rd Avenue SW just north of 25th Street SW, when her 2004 Ford Crown Victoria crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle, according to FHP.

Wilson was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Crown Victoria struck a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 67-year-old Yehia Ahmed Moustafa, of Ft. Pierce, who was driving north on 43rd Avenue SW.

Both Moustafa and Moustafa’s passenger, 79-year-old Florence Marietta Farley, were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. They are in serious condition, according to FHP.

All involved were wearing seatbelts, the crash report states.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
