Man arrested for stealing Yukon from owner’s driveway

VERO BEACH — Christian Taylor, 20, was arrested on Tuesday morning after he was found driving a 2007 GMC Yukon reported missing from the owner’s driveway earlier the same day morning.

The vehicle went missing from a residence on the 800th block of Riomar Drive according to law enforcement. Officials were able to use the Yukon’s On-Star system to locate the vehicle in the area of 2nd Street and Old Dixie Highway.

Taylor was pulled over at the intersection of 4th Street and US 1 and placed under arrest after allegedly admitting he took the vehicle without the owner’s consent, according to an official release from the Vero Beach Police Department. Five other occupants were found in the car.

According to the release, “Taylor stated that he had found the vehicle unlocked with keys in the center console. He also admitted to being involved in several recent car burglaries within the city limits.”

Taylor has been booked in the county jail six times since June 2012 on various charges including shoplifting, fraudulent use of a credit card, auto burglary, and another felony grand theft auto charge occurring in March of this year.

He is currently being held without bond for felony grand theft auto and violation of probation. Additional criminal charges are pending.
