Schools Superintendent to retire at next school year’s end

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River County Schools Superintendent Dr. Fran Adams announced Tuesday that she plans to retire at the end of next school year – June 2015.

School Board members were notified this morning.

“I wanted to let everyone know my plans now, so that there is ample time for the Board to search for my replacement,” she said in a prepared statement released by the School District.

Dr. Adams was chosen to serve as the superintendent in 2011, replacing out-going Schools Superintendent Dr. Harry LaCava. Previously, Dr. Adams served as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum as well as principal at Sebastian River High when the school opened in 1995 and as principal and assistant principal at various schools throughout the district before that.

Dr. Adams also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Florida Atlantic University Master’s Program in Educational Leadership.
