Jake Owen up for 2014 CMT ‘Performance of the Year’

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Adding to his ever-growing list of country music accomplishments, Vero Beach’s own, Jake Owen, is one of six country music contenders up for Country Music Television’s Performance of the Year.

His performance of the song, “Days of Gold,” on CMT’s Top 20 Countdown landed him the nomination.

The title of the hit song for which he is nominated is also the title of his album released in August of 2013 and his headline tour that launched in March.

“Days of Gold,” is a quick-tempo song that tells the story of a “southern summer,” like many of Owen’s songs his fans have come to know and love him for.

The “Performance of the Year” is awarded based on fan votes, which can be submitted via Twitter, Facebook, or at http://www.cmt.com/cmt-music-awards/. Participants must register with CMT in order to be able to place a vote for Owen or any of the other country music stars nominated in the eight award categories.

Voting has officially begun, and will continue until Noon, on June 2. Results will be announced live during the 2014 CMT Music Awards on June 4.
