VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach City Council unanimously approved Shark Bait International to operate at South Beach Park, renting beach chairs and beach umbrellas to beach goers.
The resolution grants a non-exclusive franchise to Shark Bait with a 30-day out by either party. The City of Vero Beach will control signage for the company at the beach.
“This gives recreation and city manager a lot of control on where the vendor sets up and how he operates,” City Manager Jim O’Connor said.
Beach chairs and umbrellas will be located on a small portion of the north side of the beach, but the majority of the beach area will be kept for the public.
