Brevard Symphony hosts annual Pops Concert Feb. 23 in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH — Always a very popular event, The Indian River Symphonic Association will present the Brevard Symphony Orchestra’s annual POPS Concert – “Vinyl Fever: A Celebration of the Music of the 50s, 60s and 70s” – led by Music Director/Principal Conductor Christopher Confessore on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Church of Vero Beach.

“In developing our program, it was great fun recognizing the terrific popular music from these three decades,” said Conductor Confessore. “The vinyl record – 45’s and LPs – were in their heyday, as Rock ‘N Roll and the Beatles revolutionized popular culture. As the War years gave way to that wonderful era of innocence, we all enjoyed a broad range of pop music — from Broadway hits to Movie soundtracks to Radio’s Your Hit Parade and TV music/variety programs and themes from Dragnet, I Love Lucy, and The Honeymooners. The BSO and I grew up listening to and learning to play this music – it was our ‘Coming of Age.’ We love playing our era’s music now – so much of it was your era’s music too.”

Highlights of the Feb. 23 Concert will include “Back to the Fifties: A Tribute to the King – the Music of Elvis Presley;” “The Sounds of the Seventies: When TV Was Young;” and “Themes for 007 – the Music of James Bond.”
