Republican Women Aware supports 8 local charities

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Republican Women Aware started the year off in an exciting way for eight local charities who were given proceeds from the groups Christmas House 2013 event.

RWA 2013 President Connie Bishop presented checks totaling over $5,500 to CASTLE, Hibiscus Children’s Center, Indian River County Sailing Foundation, SUN UP ARC, Camp Haven, Women’s Refuge Center of Vero, Boys and Girls Club of Vero Beach and Senior Resource Association.

Elaine Bath, 2014 RWA president and RWA Board Members Lalita Janke, First VP in charge of Programs; Susan Haller, Second VP in charge of Membership; Lora Connolly, Third VP in charge of Ways and Means; MK Corrigan, Treasurer; Joanne Stalheber, Corresponding Secretary and Dale Simchick, recording secretary were present to welcome and honor the charities for their work helping the less fortunate in Indian River County. Bishop will remain on the board as the past president.

Also at the meeting RWA member Dr. Deepti Sandwani gave a free health consultation to RWA members. RWA Member Carole Jean Jordan, who is also Indian River County Tax Collector, was appointed by the Board as RWA politarian.

Other Club appointments for 2014 are: Greeters Jackie Solarie and Laurie Shoemaker and 50/50 Chairman Millie Gummerson. Haller will also chair reservations.

RWA meets the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Vero Beach Country Club.
