Whole Child helps Highlands Elementary get connected

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Whole Child Indian River, a program that helps parents access community resources through its online network, has made it even easier for families at Highlands Elementary School to get connected to providers.

Parents can now create a Whole Child profile at the Connection Corner, located in the Family Resource Room of the school’s media center.

The Connection Corner, made possible thanks to the generous support of Quail Valley Charities, provides a quiet, private place for parents to visit Whole Child’s website and access information about a wide range of providers available to meet their families’ needs.

“The Connection Corner allows families without a computer to access Whole Child’s website,” said Whole Child executive director Kelley Williams. “But it’s available to all Highlands’ parents, even those with home computers, who are looking to create a profile in a quiet place without distractions.”

The Connection Corner is open from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on weekdays, with the exception of school holidays and summer break. Parents must first check in at the front desk before visiting the Connection Corner.

“Whole Child directly relates to our school wide implementation of Conscious Discipline, which stresses the importance of our children feeling safe so that they can learn as well as making connections to build relationships with our students & families,” said Highlands Principal Diane Fannin. “We are proud to be able to offer the Connection Corner to our families.”
