Indian River Habitat for Humanity seeking homebuyers

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Families in Indian River County who are seeking simple, safe, affordable housing are encouraged to contact Indian River Habitat for Humanity to see whether they qualify for a Habitat home.

Habitat’s newly implemented strategy includes not only new construction, but also purchase of foreclosure properties, which are rehabbed and available to Habitat homebuyers.

To qualify, applicants must meet income and current-debt guidelines, work a specified number of Sweat Equity hours, and be able to make no-interest mortgage payments, which include insurance and taxes. Additionally, the Habitat program requires that homebuyers attend several classes, covering various aspects of homeownership and financial management.
