Orchid Island Outreach awards six scholarships

VERO BEACH — Orchid Island Outreach has worked with Dollars for Scholars for 11 years awarding scholarships to children of first responders and to Orchid Island employees and their families.

Just recently, Orchid Outreach partnered with Indian River State College (IRSC) and established an endowed scholarship fund through the Indian River State College Foundation. The first group to receive this new scholarship starts classes this fall, and their majors include Computer Technology, Criminal Justice, Education, and Physical Therapy.

This scholarship will continue to be awarded on an annual basis to IRSC degree or certificate seeking students who reside in Indian River County. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a 2.0 or higher GPA and must maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA to continue receiving the scholarship.

First preference will be given to Orchid Island employees and/or family members.
