Fort Pierce man accused of shoplifting $250 worth of beauty products

VERO BEACH — A Fort Pierce man was caught shoplifting $250 worth of beauty products by stuffing them in his pants and his pockets, according to the Vero Beach Police Department.

Joseph McPadden, 31, of Fort Pierce, was observed at the Publix on 21st Street by the store manager shoving different products down the front of his pants and in to his pockets Monday. McPadden was shopping with his wife at the time.

McPadden went to several locations in the store before the manager saw him walk out the front door, according to authorities.

After police made contact with the store manager, they located McPadden in the store and placed him under arrest.

McPadden’s wife consented to a search of their vehicle for the stolen items, according to authorities. Four Olay Repair Treatment, and three Crest White Strips were found hidden in a pillow case on the rear passenger floorboard.

The items were valued at $250.52.

McPadden faces charges of retail theft and has posted bond that was set for $500.
