Camp Haven Board grateful for Impact 100 grant

VERO BEACH — Camp Haven, Inc. has been awarded one of four $100,000 grants by Impact 100. The board of directors gathered to celebrate this accomplishment and to prepare for the agency’s anticipated opening of the camp.

“We had wanted to serve the homeless by the end of summer, but now, thanks to the kindness of the Impact 100 supporters, this may happen sooner. We are very honored, pleased, and so very grateful to be selected as one of their grant recipients. It couldn’t have come at a better time,” stated Lalita Janke, President of the Camp Haven board of directors.

The grant funds will be used to replace the leaky roof on the old Citrus Motel and to build a small commercial kitchen. Camp Haven has 20 rooms to accommodate the agency’s Opportunities Program participants as they work through rigorous training, skill building, and job readiness activities.

“This grant expedites our efforts to complete renovations that will allow us to provide programs specifically designed to end homelessness. Providing a supportive living environment is the ideal atmosphere for success,” said Dennis Bartholomew, CEO of Camp Haven, Inc.

The Camp Haven program provides a transformational opportunity for Indian River County men and women who want to rise out of homelessness.
