Genealogists get help mastering source information

VERO BEACH — Where did I find that? Recording your source information is an important, but sometimes overlooked, task that all genealogists should master.

Whether our research takes us to libraries, cemeteries or online, we sometimes forget to cite our sources.

Luckily for members and guests of the Indian River Genealogical Society, Peter Bradish, an outstanding genealogist from Brevard County, will help overcome bad habits and correct past mistakes when he speaks at the Dec. 13 meeting.

The public is invited to join the IRGS at its meeting Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 9:30 am in the large, first floor conference room of the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach. Following a brief business session and refreshments, the program will begin about 10:45 a.m.

Bradish holds a BS degree from MIT and had a 28-year career with IBM. He can trace his ancestry eleven generations to a Robert Bradish, who first appeared in records of Cambridge, Mass, in 1635.

With his wife, Connie, Peter has co-authored over three-dozen articles in Everton’s Genealogical Helper. The Bradishes are retired and spend about 8 moths each year in a motor coach, seeing North America, visiting friends and family, researching genealogy on-site and giving presentations at societies and genealogical events.

This and all general meetings of the IRGS are free and open to the public. The society meets second Tuesdays, September to May.
