Great American Smokeout scheduled for Nov. 17

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The American Cancer Society is marking the 36th Great American Smokeout on Thursday, Nov. 17 by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day.

Here in Indian River County, we are doing our part by offering free tobacco cessation classes. Quitting smoking is not easy, but it can be done. To have the best chance of quitting successfully, you need to know what you’re up against, what your options are, and where to go for help. See below for the next tobacco cessation classes in our area.

Additionally, the Substance Abuse is working towards our initiative to get “smoke” out of the Vero Beach City playgrounds and parks. We will be cleaning up Jaycee Park and distributing literature about free tobacco cessation classes in the area along with other pertinent information about services offered.
