Dust off your bowling ball for Habitat’s annual Bowl to Build

VERO BEACH — There is still time, and space available, to enter your team in the 5th Annual Bowl to Build Tournament to support Indian River Habitat for Humanity’s Scholarship Fund. This year’s tournament will be held in the state-of-the-art Vero Bowl facility, 929 14th Lane, Vero Beach, on Sunday, Oct. 23. Check-in begins at 1 pm and the tournament gets underway at 1:45 pm.

There is still time to sponsor a lane, organize a team or both. All sponsor names and logos will be featured on 30 big-screen TV’s throughout the venue. What a terrific way to advertise and have fun at the same time. Among the prizes and awards will be the Golden Headpin Award, a coupon from Vero Bowl for knocking down the special headpin.

$30 registration fee includes three games of bowling, shoe rental, & t-shirt. Lane sponsorships are still available at $200 each and include one free player.

VERO BEACH — Nostalgia and the smell of Dodger Dogs swept through the stands of Holman Stadium during Historic Dodgertown’s first Jackie Robinson Day Celebration Game. The National Anthem, fireworks, and the cry of “play ball!” ushered in an evening of wholesome family fun to commemorate baseball’s first African-American player.
