Verna C. Lovatt, 98, died Aug. 26, 2011, at Consulate Health Care Nursing Home in Vero Beach.
She was born in Marsden, Saskatchewan, and lived in Sebastian for five years, coming from Winter Haven.
She was a schoolteacher and guidance counselor in Fort Lauderdale.
She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University.
Survivors include her daughter, Marnie Sullivan, of Sebastian; sister, Edna Hay, of Edmonton, Alberta; and brother, Fred Caine, of Abbotsford, British Columbia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 1 at Sebastian United Methodist Church, Sebastian.
