VERO BEACH — Clients of The Sun Up Center for Individuals with Special Needs helped make Easter a special occasion for the youngsters at the Hibiscus Children’s Center. Under the guidance of Arts & Crafts teacher Dawn Kreiner, Sun Up’s clients spent two months decorating Easter Baskets for each child at The Hibiscus Center.
A few days before Easter, clients colored eggs and filled the baskets with goodies. Then members of the Sun Up staff and several clients hand-delivered the creative baskets.
The Pre-K children were the first group to participate in an Easter egg hunt, with the three and four-year-olds and kindergarteners following.
With the help of Sun Up clients, each child chose a basket, all loaded with Easter goodies and toys, such as chocolate bunnies & eggs, M&M cookies, lollipops, jelly beans, Peeps, bookmarkers, and small toys, such as crayons, bubbles, and coloring pictures.
Additional baskets remained at the center for any children who were absent.Sun Up parents and clients felt this was truly a special event at a special place with very special children.
