Patty Lee Hutchison, 74, died April 1, 2011 at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
She was born in West Hartford, Connecticut and spent most of her adult life in Short Hills, N.J., until moving to Indian River Shores in 1998.
In Short Hills, Hutchison was an active volunteer and became president of the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills.
Subsequently she worked as office manager for the Tom Kean campaign for governor.
She then became chief administrative officer for the Community Foundation of New Jersey.
After moving to John’s Island in 1998, Hutchison was active as a volunteer and board member of the McKee Botanical Garden and a board member of the John’s Island Community Service League, of which she became president.
She also served as president of the John’s Island Garden Club, chairman of the Book Review Committee and was also an active volunteer at the Indian River Medical Center and its foundation.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years Bill Hutchison; son, Scott Hutchison (Kelley), of Lakeland; daughter, Elizabeth Hutchison, of Chicago, Ill.; brother, Don (Susan) Phillips, of Charlotte, N.C.; grandson, Drew Hutchison and granddaughter, Katie Hutchison, both of Lakeland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to IRMC Foundation, VNA Hospice House or the Mayo Clinic in memory of Patty Lee Hutchison.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Christ Church, 925 14th Lane, Vero Beach.
