Artists raise money for Substance Abuse Council

The Substance Abuse Council hosted “A Fine Evening of Eclectic Art” on Jan 28th at award winning designer KC Barkley’s riverfront estate, celebrating and auctioning art.  The event was sponsored by Nelson Morgan Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch. Notable artists included Francis Mesaros, whose paintings have been purchased by such distinguished art collectors as Cirque du Soleil owner Guy Liberte. Other artists were Nelo Freijomel, winner of the Florida Oceanographic Societies “Landscape Category,” as well as George Rodrique, painter of the well-known New Orleans “Blue Dog.

The Substance Awareness Council is a non-profit agency serving Indian River County, dedicated to the prevention and treatment of substance abuse. The Council provides free or low cost counseling to adults and youth, evidence-based substance abuse and violence prevention education to all county middle schools, drug testing and many additional services for our community.
