David Francis LaPorte, 69, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
LaPorte was born June 16, 1941, in Detroit, Mich., and was longtime resident of Indian River County.
He had been a general contractor and owner of LaPorte Construction prior to his retirement.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include son Matt LaPorte, of Vero Beach; sister Joyce (Doug) Wild, of Vero Beach; brother Bob (Mary Ann) LaPorte, of Vero Beach; brother Dennis (Carissa) LaPorte, of Palatka; sister Linda (Jim) VonPlinsky, of Valkaria; sister Jeanne (Mike) Long, of Crestview; sister Janet (Ralph Geiger) Askew, of Vero Beach; sister Diane (Paul) Steinke, of Vero Beach; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Margaret Dupuis LaPorte, and a brother John LaPorte.
