Robert Joseph Rutnik 43, Vero Beach

Robert Joseph Rutnik 43, died Jan. 19, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Belleville, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach since 2004, coming from Nutley, N.J.

He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Jersey.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Beth Rutnik, of Vero Beach; parents, Pat and Bill Rutnik, of Ft. Pierce; brother, Richard Rutnik, of Nutley, N.J.; and goddaughter, Victoria Rutnik.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County, 6230 77th St., Vero Beach, FL 32967.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

2 wounded in late Monday shooting; deputies investigating

GIFFORD — Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries following a double shooting late Monday, Indian River County sheriff's deputies reported. It was the second reported shooting to take place in Indian River County over the Labor Day weekend. Both incidents are not connected, sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Jaworski said. Details on the motive in Monday's shooting were not immediately available. Man killed in overnight shooting in Gifford

GIFFORD — A man in his early 20s was killed after being struck by gunfire overnight, authorities said. Indian River County sheriff's officials said there was no known danger to the public but are investigating the case as a homicide. "Currently, detectives are working all leads," sheriff's officials said in a statement. "There is no suspect information that can be presently shared."
