A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. 1 patient remains at hospital following deadly Jan. 15 crash
VERO BEACH — One patient - a student - remains hospitalized following a deadly two-vehicle wreck that killed 20-year-old rowing team member Grace Rett and injured several others last week, a hospital official said. The unidentified patient - a member of Holy Cross Crusaders women's rowing team - was listed in critical condition, said Tiffany Woods, public relations director for Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce. Another patient, a driver of one of the vehicles involved, was released from the hospital Wednesday, Woods said. The driver's identity was not released.
