Charles E. Waldner Jr., M.D., 80, Vero Beach

Charles E. Waldner Jr., M.D., 80, died Dec. 30, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

Dr. Waldner was born in Jackson Heights, N.Y. and lived in Boca Raton for 35 years before moving to Vero Beach nine years ago.

He earned his bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry from the University of Virginia and his master’s degree in engineering from New York University then returned to UVA to earn his Medical Degree.

He was a member of the Cancer Research Board at Duke University.

Dr. Waldner served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

He attended The Community Church, Vero Beach.

Dr. Waldner was a member of The Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, Boca Raton, Fla., Grandfather Golf & Country Club, Linville, N.C., and The John’s Island Club, Vero Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; sons, Charles E. (Jennifer) Waldner III, of Chapel Hill, N.C. and William W. Waldner, of New York, N.Y.; daughter, Cullen Waldner (Kirk) O’Brien, of Boulder, Colo; brother, Robert Waldner, of Ipswich, Mass.; sister, Suzanna Waldner Gordon, of Rumsfeld, N.J.; and six grandchildren.

A family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, with Rev. Robert Taylor Baggott of The Community Church, Vero Beach officiating.

Interment followed in the Boca Raton Cemetery, Boca Raton.
