Indian River Medical Center to offer Quit Smoking Now class Jan. 4

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Ring in 2011 as a non-smoker with the help of the Tobacco Free Partnership at the Substance Abuse Council of Indian River County.

Indian River Medical Center will offer its “Quit Smoking Now” class beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 4, helping smokers to end their dependency on nicotine and tobacco. The free class, which includes complimentary nicotine replacement therapy, begins its first of six sessions at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s Private Dining Room.

The program is sponsored by Everglades Area Health Education Center and is held twice a year at IRMC in January and July and at various other places throughout the year.

The class, taught by Rebecca Abbott, RRT, CPFT, staff respiratory therapist, Cardiopulmonary, offers help with quitting cigarettes and chew/spit tobacco.

The hospital is located at 1000 36th St., Vero Beach.
