Herbert Thomas James Jr., 86, died Nov. 1, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House.
He was born in Alpena, Mich., and lived in Vero Beach for 56 years, coming from Ft. Pierce, where he lived for two years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a combat infantryman on the front line in the European Theatre.
Before retirement, he was a citrus production manager for Graves Brothers Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice; daughters, Lynette Armstrong, of Cincinnati, Betty Lustig, of Vero Beach and Brenda Davis, of Oakton, Va.; sons, H. Thomas James III, of Vero Beach and Norman James, of Dade City; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1750 20th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A life celebration service will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 3 at the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3916.
Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
