WABASSO ISLAND – If you are looking for some gardening tips, or an interesting and fun activity to enjoy with your children, the Environmental Learning Center is the place to be on Saturday, November 13.
Meet with a nature guide at 9:30 am for a narrated stroll on the ELC’s boardwalks and mulched trails. Combine it with, or come separately for, a Touch Tank Encounter, available from 10 am until 12 pm. The Encounter is a real hands-on experience with the critters that occupy our Indian River Lagoon.
Also, from 10 am until 12 pm, a master gardener from the Indian River County Cooperative Extension Service will conduct a session designed to answer almost any plant, yard, or weed question. There is no charge and reservations are not necessary for these sessions.
From 11 am until 12 pm ELC junior interpreters using dip nets help families with children, ages 4 and up, find hidden life in our pond. The cost is $15/family or $12/member family.
Join an amateur astronomer under the starry skies of the ELC for a night of star-gazing from 7 pm until 9 pm. The whole family can learn about constellations, planets, and moons. Telescope instruction is included. The cost is $7/person or $5/member. There is no charge for children 12 and under.
Reservations for these sessions may be made by calling 772-589-5050
