Richard W. “Dick” Schaefer, 75, died Sept. 24, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Macon, Ga., and lived in Vero Beach for 56 years, coming from his birthplace. Before retiring, he was a master carpenter, employed with Croom Construction Co., Vero Beach, for 28 years.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union.
Survivors include his son, Wade E. Schaefer, of Vero Beach; daughters, Katherine L. Slusser, Brenda E. DeLuca and Gayle N. Evers, all of Vero Beach; sisters, Wanda West, of Canton, N.C., Faye Knight, of Juliette, Ga., and Katherine Henry, of Macon; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Sue Schaefer.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 28 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at the funeral home with the Rev. Buddy Tipton officiating.
Interment will follow in Winter Beach.
